Who We Are
The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) is an honorific society of the top 2% of the most elite medical and biological engineers responsible for medical discovery and innovation, headquartered in Washington, D.C. AIMBE was founded in 1991 and its vision is to provide leadership and advocacy in medical and biological engineering for the benefit of society.
AIMBE is made up of several pillars including:
College of Fellows
The College of Fellows, comprising outstanding leaders in medical and biological engineers throughout academia, industry, clinical medicine, and government. AIMBE Fellows are peer-elected and have made substantial contributions in research and practice.
Academic Council
The Academic Council, representing colleges and universities with leading educational programs in bioengineering at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This body acts as a forum to raise the national visibility and to advocate for the fields of medical and biological engineering.
Council of Societies
The Council of Societies, a collaborative between AIMBE and prominent professional and scientific societies in medical and biological engineering. This group fosters collaboration between society partners on issues facing the fields of medical and biological engineering.
Industry Council
The Industry Council, a voice for bioengineers working at the cutting edge of innovation and technology in industrial settings. They work together to advance the fields of medical and biological engineering and contribute to public health and welfare.
